This position serves as a versatile maintenance professional responsible for the general repairs and preventative maintenance of both fixed and portable mechanical and electrical equipment. The role is designed for individuals who can operate independently with minimal direction, adapting to unpredictable situations and managing stress effectively while ensuring safety and efficiency.
You will function as a key support resource, performing basic repairs alone and assisting with more complex tasks that require higher skill levels. The work environment is dynamic, requiring flexibility to handle varied hours, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends, with rotating days off.
Your day will involve a diverse range of technical tasks. You will troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems using appropriate test equipment and demonstrate proficiency with common shop tools and power equipment. Key duties include performing basic plumbing functions such as faucet repairs, clearing clogged sewer drains, and replacing copper piping up to one inch. You will also work with refrigeration equipment and execute basic metal fabrication, welding, soldering, and brazing.
A significant portion of your work involves interpreting technical documentation, including blueprints, riser diagrams, one-line diagrams, and schematics. You will apply your knowledge of motors, motor controls, sheaves, belts, and conveyors to maintain operational continuity. Beyond technical skills, the role requires strong communication and human relations abilities to interact effectively with staff, visitors, patients, and co-workers, as well as basic proficiency with Windows computer programs.
