Maintenance Technician II

About the Role

This position is designed to accelerate business value by ensuring the reliable operation and maintenance of the plant's manufacturing systems and physical property. As an individual contributor within the Reddy Ice team, you will serve as a critical link in our production chain, responsible for preventive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and minor facility repairs. Your work directly impacts processing times and minimizes downtime, ensuring our ice production remains consistent and efficient.

This role demands a servant leadership mindset and a continuous improvement philosophy. You will actively utilize lean methodologies—such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Kaizen, and A3 analysis—to identify opportunities, drive process improvements, and create value for our customers, employees, and shareholders.

While this is an individual contributor role with no direct reports, you may occasionally assist in directing production workflow based on equipment output. You will collaborate closely with the Plant Manager, Regional VP, and Engineering teams, while maintaining professional relationships with external vendors and contractors. Your day-to-day involves a blend of technical precision, such as interpreting blueprints and schematics, and practical application, including operating machinery and managing inventory for repair parts.

Working Environment

The role is based in Dallas, Texas, and operates in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. Working conditions vary from standard areas to all zones within and outside the plant, including exposure to extreme temperature fluctuations, electrical hazards, ammonia, and heavy moving equipment. The position requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, and occasional travel, with overtime as needed. Success in this role requires the ability to manage stress, maintain high safety standards, and respond promptly to emergency situations or alarms.

Hiring Process

Candidates for this position will be evaluated on their technical certifications and industrial maintenance experience. The selection process focuses on verifying qualifications such as Journeyman Certification in Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical disciplines, or specific refrigeration and maintenance certifications. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, ethical standards, and the ability to perform complex cognitive tasks in a high-alert environment.
