The VA Central California Health Care System invites you to join an extraordinary team dedicated to serving our nation's heroes. Nestled in the heart of California's stunning San Joaquin Valley, our facility is more than a workplace; it is a vibrant community where you can build a rewarding career while making a tangible difference in the lives of veterans every day.
Our mission is to provide comprehensive, high-quality gastroenterological care to veterans, honoring their service through life-changing medical treatment. We are committed to continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence in all aspects of patient care, ensuring that every veteran receives the utmost respect and dedication they deserve.
As a Gastroenterologist, you will serve as a pivotal member of our medical team, providing consultative care for outpatients, inpatients, and nursing home patients. Your day will be a dynamic blend of direct patient care, administrative leadership, teaching, and research. You will diagnose, treat, and manage patients with gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary diseases using standard, accepted methods and cutting-edge techniques.
This role offers a unique opportunity to perform advanced procedures, including EGDs, complex stricture dilation, colonoscopies, push enteroscopy, GI manometry, Bravo studies, and advanced imaging like NBI and chromoendoscopy. Beyond clinical duties, you will oversee the administration of conscious sedation and actively lead research and education initiatives.
A key component of this position is the integration of academic responsibilities. You will hold a faculty appointment with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Fresno Medical Education Program. This involves mentoring the next generation of physicians by educating and training residents, fellows, medical students, and non-physician clinical trainees through ground rounds and lectures.
Joining our team means becoming part of a collaborative environment where esteemed professionals work in unison to provide comprehensive care. You will have access to a modern, well-equipped facility supporting cutting-edge diagnostics and treatments. The VA Central California Health Care System fosters a supportive workplace culture that promotes work-life balance, offering flexible scheduling and comprehensive support services so you can focus on delivering excellent care.
Your work here is a mission, not just a job. You will have the opportunity to give back to those who have served our country, providing care that honors their legacy and promotes their well-being.
