Burton Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential services to individuals with disabilities and special needs. Founded in 1971, we have spent over five decades expanding our range of services to support over 500 people across Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, Lexington, McCormick, Ware Shoals, and Saluda counties. Our staff of 325 assists individuals through Day Programs, Residential Services, and Employment Placement Programs, all provided free of charge to those meeting specific eligibility criteria set by the South Carolina Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
We are seeking a creative, energetic, and caring Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our dynamic team. This full-time role is part of our Community Training Home (CTH) program, where you will play a pivotal role in developing and discovering unlimited potential in up to four adults with disabilities. Your mission is to promote the best possible quality of life through coaching, training, community advocacy, and hands-on support.
As a DSP, you will implement person-centered support strategies to encourage independence and community engagement. Your day-to-day responsibilities include providing direct care with self-help skills and personal hygiene, preparing light meals according to designated plans, and facilitating planned outings, hobbies, and activities. You will also utilize a Chromebook and the Therap online system to track individual objectives and complete progress reports.
This is a second-shift position requiring various weekdays from 3:45 PM to 11:45 PM, plus every other weekend from 7:45 AM to 7:45 PM, totaling 40 hours per week. The role involves driving Burton Center vehicles, operating wheelchair lifts safely, and providing Basic Life Support and MedTech certifications. Comprehensive in-person and on-the-job training will be provided to ensure you are fully prepared to deliver quality, direct support, including assistance with toileting, bathing, and administering medication.
