Burton Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential services to individuals with disabilities and special needs. Founded in 1971, we have spent over five decades expanding our range of support, now serving over 500 people across Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, Lexington, McCormick, Ware Shoals, and Saluda counties. Our staff of 325 delivers Day Programs, Residential Services, and Employment Placement Programs, all provided free of charge to those meeting specific eligibility criteria set by the South Carolina Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

We are seeking a creative, energetic, and caring Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our dynamic Residential Program team within an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF). In this pivotal role, you will help create the best quality of life for up to eight adults with disabilities and special needs living in our home.
Your day will be defined by person-centered support, implementing effective training programs, and encouraging independence and community engagement. You will provide direct care ranging from self-help skills and personal hygiene to toileting, bathing, and feeding assistance. You will also prepare light meals according to designated plans, follow behavioral support plans, and facilitate planned outings, hobbies, and activities.
To support your work, you will be equipped with a Chromebook to track individual objectives and complete progress reports using our online system, Therap. We are committed to your success, offering thorough in-person and on-the-job training to prepare you for driving Burton Center vehicles, operating wheelchair lifts safely, utilizing therapeutic options, and obtaining Basic Life Support and MedTech certifications.
