CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors, and partners working together to build an inclusive New York City. Our mission is to ensure all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive. We take a comprehensive approach, offering more than 180 integrated programs in Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services.
We reach almost 80,000 individuals and families, including nearly 13,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross-section of New Yorkers, from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe, and over 85% of our families are living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.
This Full-Time Security Guard position is based at Vincent Cyrus Plaza 57 (VCP 57), a 43-unit affordable and supportive housing development in East Harlem. The facility houses studio apartments specifically set aside for formerly homeless people with HIV/AIDS. As the on-site service provider, CAMBA offers case management and 24/7 security to support the well-being of our residents.
In this role, you will be the first line of defense for the safety and security of the entire facility. Your day-to-day involves monitoring the premises via security camera systems, patrolling buildings and grounds, and conducting security screenings for all tenants and visitors. You will play a vital role in maintaining a safe environment by examining doors, windows, and fire exits to ensure compliance with fire regulations. Beyond physical security, you will employ crisis prevention and intervention skills when conflicts arise, counsel tenants on rule violations, and issue commendations to support positive behaviors. You will also document all incidents, property damage, and irregularities in security logbooks and report findings to supervisory personnel.
Candidates must possess a valid NYS Security Guard license and registration, as well as a Fire Guard certification. A High School diploma or G.E.D. is required. Successful applicants must have completed an 8-hour Pre-Assignment security guard training course and commit to obtaining a 16-hour On-the-Job training certificate within 90 days of employment, followed by an 8-hour Annual In-Service Course each calendar year.
