The Center for Family Health & Education, Inc. (CFHE) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) located in the northeast San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. Since 2009, CFHE has been dedicated to providing affordable and comprehensive medical care to underserved, uninsured, and underinsured residents of the greater Panorama City area. Our services include primary health care, mental health care, dental care, women's and children's health care, and patient transportation services.
About the Role
As a Front Office Medical Assistant in our Pediatrics department, you will serve as a vital link between our patients and our clinical team. Your primary mission is to ensure a welcoming and efficient experience for families seeking care. You will verify patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of their visit. Additionally, you will prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests, such as taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature, and reporting a summary of their history to the provider.
In this role, you will manage the front desk operations, including greeting patients and visitors, answering and directing phone calls, and scheduling appointments to optimize provider time and treatment room utilization. You will maintain timely patient flow, ensure exam rooms are stocked and ready, and assist with the accurate documentation of all medications and referrals. A key aspect of this position is supporting our diverse patient population; fluency in Spanish is imperative due to the nature of the community we serve.
