As a Freight Handler at FedEx Freight, you will be the backbone of our dock operations, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of goods from trailers to the dock area and vice versa. This role is critical to maintaining our fast-paced, deadline-oriented workflow, where precision and reliability directly impact customer satisfaction.
You will operate in a dynamic environment that requires both independence and teamwork. Your day-to-day involves verifying that freight documentation matches the physical cargo, securing loads with appropriate tools like straps and pallets, and handling damaged goods when necessary. Whether you are maneuvering motorized equipment like forklifts or manually moving freight, your attention to detail ensures that every shipment is accounted for and ready for transport.
The position may also include hostling duties, requiring you to move trailers within the yard. You will interact frequently with service center personnel and customers, providing assistance with freight and documentation as needed. This is a hands-on role where you will be exposed to the varied conditions of a working dock, including weather, noise, and exhaust, while adhering to strict safety and compliance standards.
Candidates meeting the qualifications will be invited to discuss their experience and availability for the 1700-2200 shift. The selection process focuses on verifying the ability to perform essential physical functions and demonstrating a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
