About the Role
FedEx Freight is seeking a dedicated Dock Worker to ensure the efficient movement of freight across the dock area. In this fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, you will serve as a critical link in our logistics chain, responsible for transporting goods to and from trailers for loading. The role requires a blend of physical stamina, operational precision, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team.
You will be the first point of contact for freight verification, ensuring that documentation accurately matches the physical cargo, including details on type, weight, and hazardous materials. Your day-to-day duties involve securing freight within trailers using specialized tools and supplies, managing damaged goods, and assisting customers with freight-related inquiries. While the primary focus is on dock operations, you may also be required to perform hostling duties, moving equipment within the yard to support overall workflow.
Working Conditions
This position is based in a dynamic dock environment where you will be exposed to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, and noise. The role is physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift and carry hand freight of varying weights, maneuver dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and exert significant force to open trailer doors. Shift times are set from 04:00 to 10:00, though hours may vary to meet operational needs.

Requirements
