About the Role

GRID Alternatives is seeking a Foundation Development Officer - Northern California & Central Valley to join our national Headquarters Philanthropy team. This role is designed to lead efforts in increasing major, impact-driven funding partnerships from local foundations in Northern and Central California while managing a current portfolio of committed partners.

Our organization is well-positioned to dramatically increase support from this sector, driven by rapidly growing interest from the funder community around the intersection of climate change and economic and racial justice. This is a leadership opportunity for a proposal writer, partnerships thought leader, and relationship manager ready to help grow program and organizational capacity through major partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • check_circleSpearhead efforts to raise major 5- to 7-figure funding partnerships from local foundations
  • check_circleManage a portfolio of funders making annual and multi-year grants

  • check_circleDrive collaboration on foundation fundraising strategy and case for support development

  • check_circleCultivate long-term relationships with existing foundation partners

Requirements

  • verified4-5 or more years of professional nonprofit fundraising or grantmaking experience
  • verifiedBachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • verifiedValid driver's license and good driving record
  • verifiedAbility to pass a drug screening for amphetamine, cocaine metabolite, opiates, and PCP
  • verifiedMicrosoft Office and Google Apps proficiency

Nice to Have

Specific experience with renewable energy, affordable housing, workforce development, and/or environment/environmental justice work. Existing relationships with local and national foundations that focus on climate change, environmental justice and/or economic opportunity, specifically in the Northern California region. Experience working with or in a large, networked organization. Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM.
