The National Park Service (NPS) is dedicated to preserving the nation's natural and cultural heritage while promoting government transparency. As a FOIA Analyst, you will play a vital role in this mission by ensuring that Freedom of Information Act requests are handled accurately, efficiently, and in strict compliance with federal law.
You will serve as a subject-matter expert in FOIA processing, acting as the bridge between the public and the agency's records. Your work ensures that the public's right to know is balanced with the necessary protection of sensitive information. Day-to-day, you will manage the full lifecycle of requests, from initial review and categorization to the final preparation of response packages. You will coordinate with program offices, custodians, and attorneys to locate records, guide staff on search strategies, and ensure all released materials meet Section 508 accessibility standards. This role is critical for maintaining organized case files, reducing backlogs, and supporting appeals or litigation when required.
We are seeking four FOIA Analysts to support our operations across four distinct locations: Reston, VA; Herndon, VA; Washington, DC; and Lakewood, CO. Each position is a full-time role within a team committed to excellence in records management and public service.
The National Park Service is an equal opportunity employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, or protected veteran status.
