The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking dedicated FOIA Analysts to support the full lifecycle of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. In this role, you will play a vital part in promoting government transparency by ensuring that public records requests are handled accurately, efficiently, and in strict compliance with federal law.
As a FOIA Analyst, you will serve as a subject-matter expert in processing these critical requests. Your work ensures that the public's right to know is balanced with necessary legal protections. You will coordinate with program offices, custodians, and attorneys to locate records, guide staff on search strategies, and prepare polished response packages, including Vaughn indices. A key part of your day involves reviewing and analyzing records for responsiveness, redacting sensitive information, and ensuring all released materials meet Section 508 accessibility standards. You will also contribute to backlog reduction, assist in developing standard operating procedures, and support appeals or litigation actions when required.

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess an active Public Trust clearance. Additionally, applicants should have an Associate's degree or equivalent experience, along with 2-3 years of experience in FOIA processing. A strong grasp of FOIA and Privacy Act statutes and exemptions is essential, as is proficiency with FOIAXpress (or similar systems) and the Microsoft Office Suite.
