The Hermès Maison Madison Flagship Boutique, opened in 1983, is a cornerstone of the New York Region, dedicated to providing extraordinary service to clients. As part of a fast-paced, luxury environment, the team collaborates closely with sales and selling support units to elevate the client experience. The Floor Director reports to the Senior Floor Director and serves as a vital link between the sales floor and store leadership.
This position is designed to provide consistent team leadership and hands-on Métier management, ensuring balanced attention across all teams and floors. The Floor Director acts as a day-to-day supervisor, coach, and mentor, leading by example to maintain the highest standards of client service. Beyond people management, the role involves strategic oversight of Métier merchandising, visual standards, and inventory reconciliation.
A key aspect of the role is the strategic partnership with the Managing Director and Operations teams to address daily stock needs and opportunities. The Floor Director prepares for and attends bi-annual "Podium buy" events, ensuring alignment with the house's creative vision. As a team motivator, the role involves identifying monthly focus areas, such as specific Métier goals or standards of service, and designing measurable campaigns to drive incremental business improvement.
The Floor Director also serves as a primary communicator for business updates, presenting sales analysis, team highlights, and strategic insights at weekly leadership meetings. This includes conducting individual productivity meetings to set goals and delivering annual performance appraisals. In the absence of the Managing Director, the Floor Director represents the leadership of the entire store, overseeing support and guard teams to ensure policy adherence and operational excellence.
