XSTAR Aviation is dedicated to building the next generation of Air Force aviators. Our mission focuses on developing superior airmanship, increasing flight repetition, and enhancing overall flying proficiency within the bomber aircrew community. We provide a unique environment where experienced pilots can directly impact the readiness and safety of military operations.
As a Multiengine Flight Instructor, you will serve as a pivotal link between civilian aviation expertise and military operational needs. This is not a traditional airline or rotational pilot role; it is a dedicated, in-person position designed to foster deep professional growth for military aircrew.
You will fly multiple times each week, delivering high-quality instruction that bridges the gap between FAA and USAF operating procedures. Your day will involve executing proficiency-focused flight profiles, mentoring aviators on instrument procedures and terminal area operations, and providing ground-based instruction on regulatory frameworks and airspace differences. Beyond the cockpit, you will integrate into the site operations by taking on ground duties such as safety coordination, training administration, or program management. The organizational structure mirrors that of a military flying unit, requiring sound aeronautical judgment and strong crew coordination in a fast-paced environment.
This is a fully in-person position based in Abilene, Texas. To ensure operational readiness, pilots must live within 30 minutes of the Abilene site or be willing to relocate. The schedule runs Monday through Friday, offering a consistent routine distinct from the irregular rotations found in commercial aviation.
Candidates are invited to apply with their complete flight logs and certifications. The selection process typically involves a review of qualifications, followed by an interview with program leadership to assess technical expertise and cultural fit. Successful candidates will undergo a background check to facilitate the required security clearance.
XSTAR Aviation is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We prohibit discrimination and harassment of any kind based on race, color, sex, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, pregnancy, or any other protected characteristics as outlined by federal, state, or local laws.
