About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Summer Intern to join the Fixed Asset and Leasing Department. This role offers hands-on experience in asset accounting and lease management within a dynamic transportation environment. You will support the Manager Financial Reporting by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with asset lifecycle tracking, and ensuring proper documentation of leasing activities.

As part of this internship, you will gain practical experience with fixed asset accounting and lease management while developing a deeper understanding of capital expenditure processes. You will be exposed to real-world financial controls in a fleet-based business and have the opportunity to work closely with experienced accounting professionals.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleAssist with recording asset additions and ensuring proper classification and capitalization
- check_circleSupport processing and documentation of asset retirements and disposals
- check_circleMaintain and update the fixed asset register for accuracy and completeness
- check_circleVerify asset data including cost, useful life, and location assignments
- check_circleAssist with subledger asset reconciliations and reconciliations with the Fleet management system
- check_circleUpdate and track Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs) and ensure alignment with recorded asset additions
- check_circleAssist with tracking vehicle payments for accurate forecast updates
- check_circleAssist with lease schedule setup in accordance with company policies
- check_circleEnter and maintain lease additions in leasing software
- check_circleSupport ongoing maintenance of lease records including reconciling lease payments and changes
Requirements
- verifiedCurrently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- verifiedProficiency in Microsoft Excel
- verifiedExposure to Oracle ERP systems and leasing software preferred
