As a Field Systems Engineer, you will serve as the primary technical partner for bioMérieux customers across your assigned territory and nationally. This role is designed for a self-starter who thrives in a dynamic, remote environment, delivering a best-in-class customer experience without direct supervision. You will optimize the performance of bioMérieux's diverse product portfolio by collaborating directly with clinicians, scientists, technicians, and lab leadership.
Your day-to-day involves a blend of high-level technical execution and strategic relationship building. You will respond promptly to customer needs, performing installations, maintenance, upgrades, and repairs to ensure instruments meet strict specifications. Beyond technical support, you will foster trust with customers, identify sales opportunities for cross-functional teams, and drive field service revenue through billable offerings like preventive maintenance.
This position requires significant mobility. Expect daily driving of 50% or more, with weekend and holiday rotational coverage that may involve additional driving or flying within and outside your standard region. Approximately 15% of your annual time will be dedicated to on-call support, which includes overnight travel when qualified on specific products. You will also participate in a rotational on-call schedule (every 5 weeks) requiring local phone availability and potential national travel for instrument support.
Candidates selected for this role will attend 6-9 weeks of product training at our Durham, NC or St. Louis, MO offices within the first year, with future trainings occurring as needed. The selection process focuses on identifying individuals with the technical aptitude to quickly acquire new knowledge and the resilience to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
At bioMérieux, we are committed to maintaining a culture of inclusiveness and professionalism. We expect our Field Systems Engineers to uphold our core ethical principles, demonstrate emotional intelligence, and foster positive interactions with colleagues at all levels. Whether resolving technical issues under pressure or collaborating with sales and marketing teams, you will represent the company with integrity and a solution-oriented mindset.
bioMérieux is an equal opportunity employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
