About the Department

The Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) is dedicated to funding Arizona's future through excellence in innovation, exceptional customer service, and public servant-led continuous improvement. Our mission is simple yet profound: Serve Taxpayers. We are looking for individuals who are deeply committed to service, community, and teamwork to join our amazing team.

About the Role

As a Field Auditor 3, you will be a vital part of a team that helps Arizonans thrive by ensuring the integrity of our tax system. You will perform moderately difficult and complex auditing work for state, county, and city jurisdictions, covering intra- and interstate businesses as well as corporate income tax for multi-state and multinational taxpayers.

Your day will involve determining tax liabilities, preparing detailed working papers, and developing recommendations for final audit memorandums. You will review refund requests, research statutes and administrative codes to determine taxability, and represent the department at informal and formal hearings. This role requires you to prevent the disclosure of confidential tax information while maintaining orderly audit files and developing audit scopes in accordance with generally-accepted auditing standards (GAAS) and government audit standards (GAS).

The State of Arizona strives for a work culture that affords employees flexibility, autonomy, and trust. This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona, with occasional in-office meetings required. All work, including remote work, must be performed within Arizona unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.

Hiring Process

The final candidate will be required to complete several pre-employment checks, including employment verification, reference checks, state and federal criminal background checks (including fingerprinting), and an Arizona tax filing records check. If the role requires driving, a driver's license check may also be necessary. All newly hired State employees must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

If you have any questions, need assistance, or would like to request a reasonable accommodation, please contact tartenian@azdor.gov.

Equal Opportunity

The State of Arizona is an Equal Opportunity/Reasonable Accommodation Employer.
