Henry Ford Health is seeking a Program Director to lead its Henry Ford Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program in Detroit, MI. Serving a diverse urban patient population, including underserved communities, the program is committed to delivering patient-centered, evidence-based care. The residency operates within a large integrated health system, fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment dedicated to the development of future family medicine physicians.
The Program Director provides overall leadership, administration, and direction of the residency program, ensuring strict compliance with accreditation standards while overseeing curriculum, faculty, and resident development. This role extends beyond technical administration; the Director must serve as a role model to residents, embodying the Core Competencies in all interactions.
Key aspects of the day-to-day mission include supporting scholarly activity, professional development, and initiatives that promote resident wellness and community engagement. The Director will design and conduct the program in alignment with the needs of the community and the missions of both the Sponsoring Institution and the program itself. A critical responsibility is maintaining a learning environment where residents can raise concerns and provide feedback in a confidential manner, free from intimidation or retaliation.
The Program Director holds the authority to approve or remove program faculty members and to remove residents from supervising interactions that do not meet program standards. They are accountable for the administration and operations, teaching, resident recruitment, evaluation, promotion, and disciplinary actions, ensuring that all educators effectively role model the required competencies.
Candidates must be faculty members appointed as Program Director with the authority and accountability for the overall program. The role requires significant administrative FTE to ensure education goals are met, alongside current certification in Family Medicine (American Board of Family Medicine or American Osteopathic Board) and current medical licensure with ongoing clinical activity. Applicants should possess specialty expertise and at least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience.
Henry Ford Health is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. The program ensures compliance with the Sponsoring Institution's policies related to grievances, due process, employment, and nondiscrimination.
