About the Role

The Facilities Technician is the backbone of our museum's operational readiness, ensuring that both our physical plant and our exhibits remain safe, functional, and welcoming for millions of visitors. This role goes beyond standard maintenance; it is a partnership with Visitor Services, Operations, and Museum Experience teams to deliver a high-quality guest experience. From the moment a visitor steps through our doors, the technician's work ensures the environment is clean, safe, and ready for exploration.

In this position, you will perform ongoing preventative maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and installed systems. Your day-to-day involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to support the setup and teardown of special events and traveling exhibits. You will also monitor facility cleanliness, coordinate with custodial staff, and manage landscaping or snow removal as needed. Occasional on-call duties ensure that emergency maintenance requests are resolved promptly, maintaining our commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • check_circlePerform preventative maintenance and repairs on exhibits, furniture, fixtures, and building systems
