This position serves as a vital support pillar for the school community, ensuring the facility remains clean, safe, and secure. Acting under general direction, the incumbent performs semi-skilled trade functions and grounds work while managing security concerns, vandalism, and safety hazards. Beyond individual maintenance tasks, this role involves supervising custodial staff, contributing to the school's budget planning, and actively participating in the school crisis management team.
The day-to-day responsibilities blend hands-on facility management with leadership duties. You will handle work orders, performing minor repairs in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, roofing, and HVAC systems, or coordinating with outside vendors when necessary. Grounds maintenance is a key component, including lawn care, tree trimming, and the upkeep of sprinkler systems and playground equipment. Additionally, the role includes crossing guard duties to ensure student safety at crosswalks and school property.
As a supervisor, you will determine workloads and schedules for custodial staff, monitor performance, and assist the Principal in hiring and evaluating team members. You will also manage inventory for tools and supplies, track warranties, and assist with setting up special events and moving furniture.
