SMX is seeking an Exercise Modeling & Simulation Engineer to support US Space Forces Indo-Pacific (SFI). The ideal candidate will provide the technical expertise required to build and maintain a simulated, contested space environment for exercises. This role is critical for creating high-fidelity simulations of space-based assets and orbital mechanics to support Tier 1 and Tier 2 exercises.
In this position, you will resource and implement simulations of Command, Control, Communications, and Intelligence (C3I) capabilities, ensuring that virtual data streams—such as GPS interference and SATCOM degradation—are delivered realistically to training audiences. You will manage the real-time injection of space-related effects into virtual and constructive training environments during live exercise execution. A key part of your day involves ensuring all modeling and simulation tools are compatible with existing INDOPACOM and partner nation simulation architectures, such as Joint Training Data Services.
You will serve as a bridge between complex technical systems and non-technical end users, crafting modeling and simulation diagrams for platform systems and architecture. Your ability to explain complex system information and adapt platforms based on feedback from allies and partner nations will be essential. This role requires a high degree of organization to track multiple processes, maintain large amounts of data, and create products for multiple countries simultaneously.
To apply, please submit your application by the deadline of June 15, 2026. Selected applicants may be subject to a background investigation and/or education verification. Please note that SMX does not sponsor new applicants for employment authorization or immigration-related support for this position (e.g., H1B, F-1 OPT, J-1, etc.).
SMX is an Equal Opportunity employer, including disabilities and veterans. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background. This position requires a DoD security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance, which necessitates US citizenship.
