As an Estimator, you will prepare comprehensive estimates for a variety of projects while sharing responsibility for cost accuracy with the broader project team. This role goes beyond simple cost calculation; it involves assisting other estimators and managers in all types of estimating tasks and bridging the gap between narrow cost estimating services and the broader scope of preconstruction services.
You will act as a key partner to Architects and Owners, providing leadership throughout the preconstruction process. Your work ensures that "The Layton Way" is championed by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external partners, and customers. Central to your daily operations is a commitment to "Constructing with Integrity," ensuring that every interaction reflects honesty, unity, safety, and a dedication to high-quality work.
In this position, you will read and interpret contract documents, offering improvements to plans, specifications, and addenda. You will drive value by proposing Value-Engineering and Life-Cycle cost options for review. Your day-to-day involves performing quantity take-offs, organizing and pricing data, soliciting bids from subcontractors and suppliers, and communicating to clarify pricing details. You will also prepare detailed schedules, initiate special projects, and assist in guiding staff toward their completion.
