This role supports the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) and Healthcare Coalitions (HCCs) under the Rural Health Transformation Fund (THRIVE) initiative. The mission is to standardize, collect, validate, and report performance data across coalitions and rural health partners to drive data-informed decision-making and meet federal reporting requirements.
The position ensures alignment with CMS Rural Health Transformation objectives, ASPR Healthcare Preparedness Capabilities, Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) capabilities, and state-defined THRIVE metrics. By bridging the gap between TDH Central Office, Regional Public Health, and local healthcare providers, this role helps strengthen the state's rural health infrastructure and emergency preparedness.
As an Epidemiologist, you will serve as a critical liaison between the state and regional partners, ensuring that data collection tools and templates are consistently implemented across all Healthcare Coalitions. Your day-to-day involves coordinating with Regional Healthcare Coordinators to validate metrics related to coalition participation, healthcare system coordination, and access to care.
You will analyze trends in workforce development, telehealth utilization, and facility readiness, translating complex data into actionable insights. This includes developing monthly and quarterly reports, dashboards, and briefings for TDH leadership. The role requires a deep understanding of the rural health landscape and the ability to provide technical assistance to partners on reporting expectations and performance measurement frameworks.
Candidates selected for this position will undergo a standard screening process to verify qualifications in public health data management and emergency preparedness. The final selection involves interviews with TDH leadership and relevant stakeholders to assess technical fit and alignment with the THRIVE initiative goals.
The Tennessee Department of Health is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workforce. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.
