This position reports to the Gas Operations Manager and serves as the operational backbone for the landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS). The GCCS is a critical infrastructure comprising extraction wells, interconnected piping, and conveyance equipment like fans or blowers. Its primary function is to collect landfill gas (LFG) from the wellfield and transport it to a flare for combustion. Proper operation of this system is not just a maintenance task; it is a strict requirement for complying with various State and Federal environmental regulations.
The role involves a dynamic day-to-day rhythm of operating and maintaining the GCCS in a timely and cost-effective manner. You will be responsible for calibrating sensitive electronic data collection devices, managing data entry from extraction and monitoring locations, and implementing preventative maintenance plans. The work requires hands-on interaction with liquid management systems, including troubleshooting pumps and determining liquid levels in containment structures. Additionally, you will perform valve and vacuum adjustments, interpret collected data, and execute maintenance on PVC or HDPE piping materials.
This role operates in a hybrid environment, functioning both inside gas plant conditions and in outdoor settings exposed to inclement weather, heat, and humidity. The position demands physical adaptability and the ability to work independently in field environments with minimal supervision. Employees must be available for on-call responses to any GCCS-related malfunctions.
