Stability. Growth. People-First Culture.
At WM, we are committed to providing a supportive environment where employees can grow their careers while contributing to a mission of environmental stewardship. Our culture prioritizes the well-being of our team members, offering a competitive total compensation package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, a stock purchase plan, and a company match on 401K.
This entry-level, non-supervisory position is the backbone of our onsite program, focused on hazardous and non-hazardous waste-related projects. You will support the WMSS onsite program by performing manual labor associated with drum movements, drum bulking, drum crushing, and assisting with extra personnel needs as required.
The role is designed for individuals ready to dive into the field of environmental management. You will be responsible for segregating, labeling, marking, and packaging waste materials in a safe and compliant manner. Your day-to-day activities will involve collecting, pouring, transferring, consolidating, and repackaging solid, liquid, and sludge materials. You will also perform labor-intensive tasks such as container collection, sorting trash for recyclables, and loading trucks.
Safety is paramount in this role. You will wear required personal protective equipment, participate in safety processes, and adhere to the Environmental and Quality Management System (ISO 14001/9001) policies. You will also maintain compliance with applicable environmental, safety, and transportation regulations, including EPA, OSHA, and DOT standards. If you identify unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries, or property damage, you are expected to report them immediately to your supervisor.
While this is an individual contributor role, you may provide support or direction to less experienced technicians. The position operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. The work environment involves exposure to physical occupational risks, dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes, requiring the ability to perform tasks in inclement weather and handle objects up to 50 pounds occasionally.
