As an Environmental Clean Air Act Manager, you will serve as an environmental expert, providing guidance to regulated communities, government officials, attorneys, and staff. Your day will involve managing projects to ensure effective program administration, acting as a technical point-of-contact for environmental media sampling, data analysis, and technical writing.
You will research state and federal guidance to process permit applications, respond to applicant comments, and defend permit terms. This role requires attending public meetings and hearings regarding permit actions throughout Indiana, and potentially appearing in legal appeals. You will conduct surveys, inspections, and investigations of facilities, reading plans and interpreting findings to cite violations of state and federal regulations.
A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to enforcement and compliance, utilizing all available tools to ensure regulated sources return to compliance with laws and standards. You will assist in preparing sampling and analysis work plans, conducting field work according to Standard Operating Procedures, and performing technical analysis to assess environmental impacts. Effective communication with responsible parties, consultants, stakeholders, and the public is essential for addressing permits, laws, and program-related inquiries.
This position requires travel on most workdays to inspect, audit, examine, survey, or investigate clients and other regulated entities. You will write reports at these sites or from your home. The number and timing of work hours may vary daily or weekly to accommodate operational needs, minimize expenditures for repeated visits, and allocate resources effectively.
