The Energetics and Propulsion Department is an engineering organization within the Hardware Engineering Directorate, responsible for the full spectrum of warhead, fuzing, and propulsion designs. This department seeks an Engineer II – Propulsion to join a team that applies highly advanced technical technologies and scientific principles to the systems integration of propulsion, thrusters, and space vehicles.
In this role, you will work in a collaborative environment with program management on long-range planning for new technological advancements. You will be instrumental in obtaining new business, acting independently to resolve issues associated with operational missile programs, and frequently interfacing with customers to identify user needs. The position involves managing propulsion system development projects, reviewing subcontract data, and serving as a key spokesperson on program technical capabilities and future directions.
Candidates must possess an active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance (Secret) prior to the start date, or the ability to obtain an interim clearance. U.S. citizenship is a strict requirement as only citizens are eligible for these clearances.

Four or more years of directly related experience in propulsive technology and its application to solid, liquid, or mono propellant propulsion systems. Systems knowledge to assure full development of propulsion requirements and dissemination to subcomponent levels. Project engineering skills and experience using Earned Value Management System. Demonstrated success as a proposal/cost account manager as well as project or team leader. Demonstrated ability to develop and lead collaborative efforts with other technical disciplines including structural, thermal, aerodynamics, and low observables. Willingness to travel, including internationally, to provide supplier support. Supplier collaboration experience and oversight generating specifications and statements of work (SOW). Working knowledge or experience with missile design, development, production support, and integration. Experience with DoD customers and/or associated contractor executives and technical leadership. Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance (Department of Defense).
