The Energetics and Propulsion Department is an engineering organization within the Hardware Engineering Directorate. This department is responsible for the full spectrum of warhead, fuzing, and propulsion designs and technologies, including power systems, ignition, and all other weapon initiation safety systems. We are seeking an Engineer II – Propulsion to join this critical team in Tucson, AZ.
This role is designed for individuals who enjoy working with highly advanced technical technologies, scientific principles, and theories to integrate propulsion systems into missile systems and space vehicles. You will be instrumental in the development and production programs across Raytheon Product Lines, working directly with subcontractors on the design and manufacturing of solid rocket motor propulsion systems.
In this position, you will manage propulsion system development projects and subcontracts, reviewing data and change requests while overseeing supplier operations. You will frequently interface with customers to identify user needs and act as a key spokesperson on program technical capabilities and future directions. The role requires a collaborative spirit, as you will work closely with program management on long-range planning and lead efforts to uncover and resolve issues associated with operational missile programs.
Candidates for this position must be U.S. citizens, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required U.S. government-issued security clearance. An active and transferable Secret clearance is required prior to the start date, or the ability to obtain an Interim clearance must be demonstrated.

Four or more years of directly related experience in propulsive technology and its application to solid, liquid, or mono propellant propulsion systems. Systems knowledge to assure full development of propulsion requirements and dissemination to subcomponent levels. Project engineering skills and experience using Earned Value Management System. Demonstrated success as a proposal/cost account manager as well as project/team leader. Demonstrated ability to develop and lead collaborative efforts with other technical disciplines including structural, thermal, aerodynamics, and low observables. Willingness to travel, including internationally, to provide supplier support. Supplier collaboration experience and oversight generating specifications and statements of work (SOW). Working knowledge or experience with either missile design or development, production support, and integration. Experience with DoD customers and/or associated contractor executives and technical leadership. Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance (Department of Defense).
