About SRP

Salt River Project (SRP) is one of the largest public power and water utilities in the U.S., providing electricity to approximately one million customers in the greater metropolitan Phoenix area. Since its founding in 1903, SRP has fostered a culture of stewardship and customer service, consistently ranking as an industry leader in customer service according to J.D. Power and named one of Arizona's best employers by Forbes.

SRP continues to adapt to its changing business environment by seeking innovative ways to reimagine utility service and the provision of critical resources essential to the life and economy of Arizona. Our mission is to provide reliable, affordable, and sustainable water and power.

Why Work at SRP

At SRP, we foster an inclusive work environment and believe everyone should have a fair chance to work, regardless of who they are. We value teams with diverse perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds to help deliver on our mission. Our success is rooted in our employees' happiness, health, and safety, which is why we offer a comprehensive benefits package to meet the needs of our employees and enhance their well-being.

About the Role

This position serves as a Senior Engineer within Transmission and Generation Operations (TGO) Reliability Engineering Services. You will support SRP's Balancing Authority Area Operations, Transmission Market, and Energy Market. In this role, you will provide leadership in achieving the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of SRP's transmission system. You will perform engineering analysis, studies, and design work while developing mitigation strategies for outages and operational constraints.

You will act as a bridge between technical operations and strategic planning, developing recommendations for stakeholder consideration and presenting to management. A key part of your day will involve providing engineering support for integrating new SRP generation into the fleet, with a specialty in Inverter-Based Resources (IBRs), and ensuring the transmission grid operates safely and reliably. You will also oversee software and operating tool enhancements, support control room improvements, and ensure compliance with NERC Standards and FERC Orders.

As a specialist in your field, you will serve on industry committees and task forces, representing SRP with entities such as the Electric Power Research Institute and the Western Electricity Coordination Council. You will also contribute to the department's training program by developing and instructing on operational excellence and human performance.

Hiring Process & Application

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note that SRP does not currently sponsor H1B visas, OPT, or other employment-related visas.

The hiring process includes a pre-employment drug/alcohol test. To promote the safety and well-being of our employees, customers, and communities, SRP maintains a drug/alcohol-free work environment. Any candidate found to be impaired or with the presence of an illegal drug or unauthorized substance in their system during the testing process may be disqualified from further consideration.

Workplace & Culture

SRP offers a hybrid workplace model, allowing employees whose jobs can be performed remotely to telework up to three days per week. While teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona. Additionally, candidates must possess a valid Arizona driver's license.

Equal Opportunity Employer

Salt River Project (SRP) is committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, military status, or any other protected status under applicable federal, state, or local law.
