About the Role

The Employee Relations Lead operates within a fast-paced environment, driving business results through independent project management and strategic collaboration. This position serves as a critical partner to Operations Management, providing full-cycle Human Resources support specifically for direct production-based departments. A key component of the role involves acting as a labor relations specialist within a union facility housing over 300 hourly employees.

In this capacity, you will lead change management initiatives and hold individuals accountable to expectations while fostering a positive company culture. The role requires a strategic mindset that looks beyond immediate challenges to influence long-term decisions, ensuring that HR solutions align with broader company goals. You will be the bridge between management and the workforce, improving work relationships, building morale, and increasing productivity and retention.

Day in the Life

Your day will involve a dynamic mix of business partnership, problem resolution, and process administration. You will act as a business partner to department leaders, anticipating HR needs and implementing solutions. This includes providing day-to-day performance management guidance, such as coaching, counseling, and handling disciplinary actions or investigations.

A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to labor relations, leading problem resolution with union leadership through the contractual grievance process and participating in bargaining strategy and negotiations. You will also manage the HRIS unemployment claim process and conduct regular reporting on headcount, attrition, and turnover.

Beyond administrative duties, you will support recruitment and onboarding, participate in community outreach, and facilitate HR-related training. The role demands the ability to communicate with and influence employees and management at all levels, maintaining composure in stressful or sensitive situations while upholding the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
