About the Team

Central Prairie Co-op operates within the Grain Department, serving as a vital hub for the local agricultural community. The team is dedicated to providing maximum service to members and patrons by managing the efficient receiving, storing, and shipping of grain, as well as feed production and inventory management.

About the Role

The Elevator Operator is the frontline guardian of the cooperative's grain facilities. This role exists to ensure the safe, accurate, and efficient flow of grain from the field to the customer. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of grain handling, from dumping and loading railcars and trucks to maintaining precise inventory records and ensuring grain quality.

Your day involves a dynamic mix of technical operation and customer service. You will operate complex machinery, including conveyors and grain scales, while monitoring bin temperatures and moisture levels to preserve grain integrity. Beyond the machinery, you are the face of the cooperative; you will assist customers with loading purchases, resolve inquiries, and promote the cooperative's facilities. Maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant workplace is a constant priority, requiring adherence to strict OSHA and state regulations.

Hiring Process

Candidates must possess a Commercial Driver's License (Class B required; Class A preferred) with Tanker and Airbrakes endorsements. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, along with basic computer skills and a willingness to pursue continuing education. Successful applicants will demonstrate the ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy loads and climbing ladders, and possess the reasoning ability to assess workplace hazards and select appropriate safety gear.
