About the Role

As an Elementary Teacher in Owensboro Public Schools, you will guide and encourage students to develop their full potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth. You will plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program that fosters a classroom environment conducive to effective learning. Your mission is to help every student succeed by employing a variety of instructional techniques and maintaining high expectations for behavior and academic progress.

You will serve as a positive role model, representing the school in the community effectively while establishing open lines of communication with students and parents. This role requires a commitment to professional growth, adherence to the Professional Code of Ethics, and the ability to work cooperatively with colleagues to plan instructional goals and methods.

Work Environment

This position is based in an indoor, environmentally controlled setting typical of a school. You will interact regularly with the public, parents, and children, navigating background noises, interruptions, and occasional conflicts that require sound judgment. The role involves light lifting, periods of sitting, and intermittent standing and walking throughout the day.

Terms of Employment

This is a full-time, exempt position with a contract of 187 days. Compensation is based on the instructional salary schedule, contingent on certification and verified experience, with an annual range of $44,782 to $74,910. Employees are covered by a certified benefits package and participate in the Kentucky Teacher's Retirement System (KTRS). Contracts are held with the district of Owensboro Public Schools, and location assignments are subject to change to meet district needs.
