Elementary Teacher/Reading & Math Interventionist

About the Role

As an Elementary Teacher within Owensboro Public Schools, you will guide and encourage students to develop their full potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth. You will plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary learning environment, striving to implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals through action and instruction.

This role is designed for educators who demonstrate a positive attitude and a genuine desire to see all students learn and succeed. You will serve as a positive role model, establishing and maintaining open lines of communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress. Your work will involve fostering a classroom environment conducive to effective learning while diagnosing learning abilities and evaluating student progress on a regular basis.

Work Environment

This position is based in an indoor, environmentally controlled setting typical of a school environment. You will interact regularly with the public, parents, and children, navigating background noises, sounds, and scents inherent to a school day. The role requires sound judgment when dealing with conflict and involves light physical demands, including sitting for long periods, standing and walking intermittently, and light lifting.

Employment Details

Contracts are held directly with the district of Owensboro Public Schools rather than with individual locations, meaning location assignments are subject to change to meet district needs. The position is part of a year-to-year contract for certified employees until a continuing contract is granted. You will participate in the Kentucky Teacher's Retirement System (KTRS) and work a schedule of 187 contract days.
