Elementary Teacher Assistant

About the Role

At Estes Hills Elementary School, the Elementary Teacher Assistant plays a vital role in fostering a well-organized and smoothly functioning classroom environment. This position exists to support the classroom teacher by handling non-teaching functions, thereby freeing up the teacher's time for lesson preparation, individualized student instruction, and evaluation.

You will work directly under the supervision of the Principal and the classroom teacher to assist students individually, in small groups, or with the entire class. Your day involves reinforcing learning materials introduced by the teacher, guiding independent study, and facilitating oral communication through reading and listening activities. Beyond academic support, you will help manage classroom behavior, supervise students during meals, bus duty, and field trips, and maintain classroom displays and equipment.

Application Instructions

Candidates must meet specific educational and testing requirements, including a High School Diploma or GED, along with either 48 semester hours of education or 96 contact hours combined with passing WorkKeys scores in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. An Associate's Degree and previous experience working with children are preferred.
