About the Role

Labor One is seeking Journey-Level Marine Electricians to join a specialized project in San Diego, California. This role is critical for maintaining the operational integrity of vessels, focusing on the installation, repair, and hook-up of electrical services. The position demands a deep working knowledge of electrical theory, the ability to troubleshoot complex shipboard systems (600V and less), and strict adherence to specifications and technical drawings.

Day in the Life

You will be responsible for a wide range of technical tasks, from running cables and fabricating terminations to testing internal circuits for continuity and detecting grounds or short circuits. Your day will involve inspecting mechanical and electrical connections, installing new power and lighting circuits, and implementing Lock-out Tag-out procedures to ensure safety. You will utilize IEE, ABS, Coast Guard, and manufacturer manuals to guide your repairs and installations, ensuring all work meets Objective Quality Evidence standards.

The work environment is dynamic and varied, ranging from normal office conditions to the exterior of vessels exposed to precipitation, wind, and extreme temperatures. Inside vessels, you may encounter smoky, hot, or cold conditions with low illumination. The role requires navigating confined spaces, climbing scaffolding or ladders to heights above 12 feet, and working on uneven surfaces. You will be expected to wear comprehensive personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety harnesses, and respirators, while operating heavy equipment and power tools in loud environments.
