About the Role
Labor One is seeking Journey-Level Marine Electricians to join a specialized project in San Diego, California. This role is critical for maintaining the electrical integrity of vessels, requiring a deep understanding of electrical theory, troubleshooting, and repair procedures for shipboard systems operating at 600V and below. The position demands a professional who can interpret complex specifications, drawings, and technical manuals to ensure high-quality installations and repairs.
Work Environment
The shipyard environment is dynamic and varies from standard office conditions to outdoor settings exposed to precipitation, wind, extreme temperatures, and high humidity. Inside vessels, conditions may include smoke, temperature extremes, and low illumination. The workspace often involves confined areas accessible only through manholes, high platforms requiring scaffolding or ladders, and areas with loud noise levels. Employees must be prepared to work around heavy equipment and power tools, adhering strictly to safety protocols regarding falling objects and moving mechanical parts.
Physical Demands
Success in this role requires the ability to tour vessels, piers, docks, and various work sites. Essential functions include standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling. The role frequently involves lifting or moving objects weighing between 20 and 100 lbs, working at heights above 12 feet, and maneuvering through tight spaces (18" x 36" openings). Candidates must possess sufficient handgrip and coordination to operate tools and equipment, as well as the visual and auditory acuity to respond to commands and perceive material attributes.
