As an Electrical Service Technician (Contact Voltage Field Inspector), you will play a critical role in maintaining public safety by inspecting and testing electric distribution facilities. You will be assigned a circuit map for a specific geographic area and tasked with conducting annual inspections on metallic streetlights and traffic signals.
Your day will involve utilizing a low voltage detector to test for contact voltage, followed by entering field audit data into a mobile application. Depending on the structure type, a typical inspection takes approximately 1-5 minutes. You will be responsible for inspecting 125-250 electrical structures daily, often working overnight shifts that begin one hour after sunset and conclude one hour before sunrise. This role requires walking on diverse terrain, including woods, right-of-ways, and roadways, and standing ready to notify and standby for any unsafe structures found.
