Colorado Springs Utilities is the heart of our community, keeping the lights on, gas flowing, water coming in, and wastewater leaving. Our Electrical Distribution Planning team oversees the planning, analysis, and modernization of the electric distribution system serving over 500,000 customers. We are dedicated to shaping the future of our power grid through reliability, modernization, and the integration of new technologies like EV readiness and distributed energy resources (DER).
As a Level Three Electric Distribution Planning Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in evolving how our grid operates. This position is designed for an electrical engineer who thrives on solving complex system challenges and collaborating with experts across engineering functions. You will contribute to both near-term and long-range planning initiatives for our 12.5kV and 34.5kV distribution systems, utilizing advanced modeling and forecasting tools to drive decision-making.
In this hybrid role, you will work alongside experienced engineers to drive grid modernization and electrification. Your day-to-day will involve performing detailed distribution system analyses, developing system improvement alternatives with cost justifications, and creating long-range plans that anticipate customer growth and the adoption of electric vehicles. You will also maintain critical system models, support data validation, and influence engineering standards to reflect the evolving needs of our grid.
We believe our people are the heart and soul of the organization. This role offers a hybrid work schedule to support work-life balance and includes relocation assistance to Colorado Springs for the successful candidate. As a Level Three engineer, you will have significant opportunities to grow and develop beyond this position, working on high-impact projects that directly shape grid reliability.
All positions are posted for a minimum of 5 calendar days. Starting pay is based on the successful candidate's experience, education, and training. For questions about the position or to request assistance from a recruiter, please email csurecruiting@csu.org or call 719-668-7500.
