About the Team

Colorado Springs Utilities is the heart and soul of our community, keeping the lights on, gas flowing, water coming in, and wastewater leaving. Our Electrical Distribution Planning team oversees the planning, analysis, and modernization of a growing electric distribution system serving over 500,000 customers. We are dedicated to shaping the future of the grid through reliability, modernization, and innovation.

About the Role

As an Electric Distribution Planning Engineer (Level 3), you will make a visible impact on the future of our power grid and community. This role is designed for an electrical engineer who enjoys solving complex system and planning challenges while collaborating with experts across other engineering functions. You will contribute to near-term and long-range distribution planning initiatives for our 12.5kV and 34.5kV systems using advanced modeling and forecasting tools.

In this hybrid position, you will work alongside experienced engineers to drive grid modernization, electrification, EV readiness, and Distributed Energy Resource (DER) integration. You will perform critical distribution system analyses, develop system improvement alternatives, and create long-range plans that anticipate customer growth and evolving energy needs. This role offers significant opportunity to grow and develop beyond the current position.
