The Elder Assistant is a vital member of our care team, providing essential support to residents who require 24-hour oversight. This role goes beyond basic assistance; it involves fostering residents' independence and freedom of choice at every opportunity. You will partner with residents to manage daily living activities, including dressing, personal hygiene, housekeeping, and laundry, while ensuring their safety and dignity are upheld.
In this position, you will also manage medication administration with precision, document all care activities accurately, and maintain a clean, safe environment free from infection hazards. The role requires a compassionate approach, balancing the need for supervision with the encouragement of personal autonomy.
The Lead Elder Assistant serves as a point of coordination and leadership, overseeing daily workflow and ensuring smooth communication between staff, residents, and families. This leader trains new hires, mentors the team, and applies critical thinking to navigate challenges, ensuring a welcoming and organized environment for everyone.
This is an on-site role with no remote or hybrid options, as the core functions require direct physical presence. The standard schedule runs Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 3 PM, with a rotation of every other weekend. The work environment may involve exposure to body fluids, various odors, resident behaviors, and cleaning chemicals. The role also requires the physical ability to adjust or move objects up to 150 lbs, including lifting, carrying, and repositioning items as necessary.
