As an Hourly Educator, you will serve as an expert guide and facilitator for our Jewish educational programs, bringing the outdoors to life for our participants. This role is designed for those passionate about blending formal and informal Jewish education with experiential learning in nature. Whether leading a weekend retreat or facilitating individual programs, you will be the face of our mission, creating spaces where guests can connect with their heritage, the environment, and each other.
You will work flexibly across weekdays, evenings, and weekends, committing to at least one retreat or two individual programs per month. Your day-to-day involves deep preparation, including coordinating with the Operations Manager, Director of Program Partnerships, or Program Retreat Director to align on logistics, roles, and goals. Upon arrival, you will set up the space an hour early, lead the program with enthusiasm and expertise, and ensure the environment is left in pristine condition. Following the session, you will complete necessary reporting and communicate any material needs or damages to the team.
Beyond program delivery, you are a vital part of our creative ecosystem. You will contribute to brainstorming sessions, content development, and problem-solving initiatives, helping to shape the future of our offerings. We expect you to embody our core values of "Loving Warmth," maintaining a positive, professional attitude, and accommodating all guest requests with grace. This is a hands-on role where you will regularly walk, run, hike, and farm, working in diverse environments ranging from offices to forests and farms, often exposed to outdoor elements and equipment.
We are committed to your development as an educator. You will participate in at least 10 hours of paid professional development annually, facilitated by the Pearlstone Education Team. Opportunities include training in the Way of the Wilderness and Thrive Workshops, courses led by fellow Pearlstone educators, and apprenticeships during programming. Unless already certified, you will also complete first aid and CPR training to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
We are looking for a true team player who sustains a positive and enthusiastic spirit. Success in this role requires the ability to adapt to changing conditions, work collaboratively with a diverse team, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times. You will be expected to arrive prepared, properly dressed, and ready to engage with our community from the moment you step onto campus.
Performance will be evaluated 90 days from the date of employment and annually thereafter. While this description outlines the primary duties, employees are expected to perform other job-related tasks as requested by management. All requirements are subject to modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities.
