New Country Day Camp is an open-tent community dedicated to sustaining joyful, outdoor summer experiences where everyone can thrive. As a proud Jewish camp with a multicultural identity, we celebrate the heartbeat of New York City. Our mission is to build meaningful connections with ourselves, each other, and the natural world through innovative programming rooted in Jewish tradition and guided by universal values.
We operate a 7-week outdoor summer camp for campers in kindergarten through 8th grade. Our community is neurodiverse, and we are committed to ensuring that all staff members support both neurodivergent and neurotypical campers and colleagues in having successful summers. The camp operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing transportation for staff and campers from multiple locations in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn to our Staten Island campgrounds.
The Outdoor Education Program Specialist is the architect of our outdoor learning experiences. In this role, you will create and implement high-quality programming that allows campers to hike our beautiful trails, craft with found natural materials, and learn to navigate the world around them. Your work will also extend to preparing the garden for the campers' arrival during pre-camp weeks.
You will be passionate about teaching your area of expertise in an informal, outdoor setting. Your day will involve teaching multiple groups of K–8th grade campers in 30–60-minute program blocks, fostering an environment of discovery and connection. This position requires a blend of creativity, logistical precision, and a deep commitment to our inclusive community values.
