Haverhill Public Schools is a diverse environment and a proud Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive community for all students and staff. The Greenleaf Academy serves as a key part of our district, offering specialized educational support within a collaborative setting.
As an Educational Support Personnel member in Special Education, you will play a vital role in the daily lives of students with diverse needs. Working under the supervision of certified teachers and in alignment with individual student IEPs, you will help prepare for and execute classroom instructional events, as well as educational and non-educational activities.
Your day will involve partnering with teachers to implement special strategies and interventions tailored to individual student needs, interests, and abilities. You will serve as a positive role model, treating every student with the respect due to them as individual members of the community. The role requires close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including BCBA and RBT staff, to reinforce skill development, support community integration, and ensure a successful learning experience.
You will work directly with students to provide support in academics, social skills, self-care (ADLs), and vocational tasks. This includes assisting with behavioral interventions, implementing safety and behavior plans, and utilizing ABA strategies such as discrete trials and de-escalation techniques. The position also involves supporting students with toileting and mobility needs as outlined in their IEPs, requiring physical capability to lift and carry students with assistance when necessary.
Beyond direct student interaction, you will assist with non-instructional duties such as supervising movement throughout the school, proctoring tests, and monitoring students during breaks, lunches, and community trips. You will also help set up and operate instructional technology and participate in professional development activities to meet district expectations.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Qualified candidates will be considered for the 2025-2026 school year. The role is open to those who can demonstrate a willingness to accept direction and cooperate with all staff members.
