The Roswell Independent School District's Educator Fellows program is designed to support the district's mission by cultivating the next generation of educators. This role serves as a foundational step for individuals working toward a Bachelor's degree and a career in education, offering a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience within the classroom environment.
As an Educational Assistant in the Educator Fellows program, you will work under the direct supervision of a certified teacher to provide essential instructional support and classroom management. You will interact with students, teachers, and parents, assuming responsibility for tasks that foster a cohesive and supportive school environment.
Your day will involve assisting licensed personnel in respecting individual differences while responding to students as unique individuals. You will help maintain student involvement in appropriate tasks, guide independent study, and reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher. The role requires flexibility to work with small groups, assist with reading and storytelling, and support students with personal care needs when necessary. You will also contribute to the classroom's welfare by maintaining accurate records, ensuring safety, and adhering to high standards of performance and interpersonal relationships.
Candidates selected for this program are expected to make a three-year commitment upon completion of the program. The role requires a valid driver's license and car insurance if traveling between sites, as well as enrollment or eligibility for required coursework (minimum of 9 credit hours per year). Successful candidates will be expected to work no less than 7 hours per day and may occasionally work after hours or under stressful conditions.
The Roswell Independent School District is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background and are dedicated to adhering to all safety and health standards, including universal hygiene precautions.
