You will train side-by-side with experienced Driver Trainers, acquiring the skills necessary to distribute products accurately and on time to various customer locations.

CDL-A Driver Training Program

McLane is offering a fully paid CDL-A School right here in Northfield, MN. This program provides a clear pathway to becoming a professional driver with excellent pay and benefits. The training is intensive and immersive, taking place on-site in Northfield for the final four weeks of the program. Participants must obtain a CDL-A Permit prior to the start of class.

Your Day-to-Day

As a Driver Trainee, your journey begins with learning to maneuver tractors into position to attach trailers and secure lines. You will operate trucks in a safe manner, strictly complying with all local, state, and federal regulations alongside company policies. A significant part of your day involves inspecting tractor-trailer equipment for defects before and after trips, submitting DOT inspection reports, and ensuring products are secure for undamaged transport.

You will utilize the Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH) to document delivery receipts, product temperatures, and exceptions. A key component of the role involves riding and training with a Driver Trainer to various destinations, observing and practicing commercial driving regulations, engine starting, intersection approaches, turns, backing, and parking on both roads and customer premises. You will also assist in unloading trailers and delivering products into customer facilities while maintaining accurate driver logs according to DOT regulations.
