Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Your day will involve a mix of driving and ground operations. You will perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections, hook and unhook trailers, and secure freight using appropriate tools like straps and pallets. The role requires handling freight with motorized and manual equipment, verifying documentation, and complying with hazardous material regulations.
Customer interaction is a key component; you will communicate with clients to determine pick-up or delivery needs, provide leads to sales teams, and demonstrate strong internal and external customer service. Additionally, you may be required to chain vehicle tires and perform duties of a road driver or freight handler as operational needs dictate.
Working Conditions
This role involves driving day and night on all types of roads and in all weather conditions. You will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes, and hazardous materials. Hours may vary based on operational needs, and the position requires the ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, and climb in and out of trucks.
