About the Role

As a Phlebotomist in Donor Services, you will collect units of blood or blood components from volunteer blood donors while monitoring collection equipment and the donor for signs of adverse reactions. Your day will involve performing vital signs and point-of-care testing, reviewing standard questionnaires to evaluate the safety of blood donors and transfusion recipients, and adhering to all standard operating procedures to meet quality and safety requirements.

You will also recruit and schedule blood donors for donation appointments, perform apheresis collections using specialized equipment, and collect blood at mobile blood drive locations. Additionally, you will review documents for quality assurance, perform competency observations, and lead troubleshooting for blood collection processes when needed.

Additional Requirements for Specific Candidates:

  • Foreign-trained lab personnel: Must provide a detailed equivalency High School evaluation to include a US equivalent degree at the applicant's expense.
  • DLMP employees: Those who have been in their current lab/position less than 2 years must attach early release approval from their supervisor.
  • Non-DLMP internal applicants: Those who have been in their current department/position for less than one year must attach early release approval from their supervisor.

Important Eligibility Notes:

  • Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
