The Campaign Finance Board is a nonpartisan, independent city agency dedicated to empowering New Yorkers to have a greater impact on their elections. Our mission is to make local democracy more open, transparent, and equitable by removing barriers to participation. We believe that when every New Yorker is empowered to participate meaningfully in elections, candidates will better reflect the communities they serve, elected leaders will be more accountable to the public, and New Yorkers will have a democracy they can truly trust.
Our work includes the NYC Votes initiative, which shares trustworthy election information and helps residents plan to vote, and the citywide Voter Guide that delivers candidate information directly to voters' doors. Through our public matching funds program, we ensure small contributions can make a big difference, allowing regular people to run for office without relying solely on wealthy donors. Additionally, we lift the veil on how candidates raise and spend money, increasing transparency and accountability in local government.
This role sits within the Strategy, Products, and Innovation (SPI) division, a new department responsible for leading the development of new initiatives and driving innovation across the agency's existing products and programs. The Strategy & Policy department, specifically the Strategic Planning Operations team, oversees the implementation and execution of the agency's 7-year strategic plan. This team coordinates efforts across departments, tracks progress, evaluates impact, and recommends changes to the strategic plan to put long-term goals into action.
As the Director of Strategic Planning Operations, you will serve as a key liaison between the executive team and department heads. This is a new role where you will build the team from the ground up, including hiring and managing at least three new staff members. You will bring a strong strategic mindset, data fluency, and collaborative leadership to manage relationships with stakeholders across the agency. Your day-to-day will involve leading the implementation of the 7-year strategic plan, facilitating cross-departmental collaboration to optimize efficiency, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will advocate for necessary resources, present data-driven insights to senior leadership, and work to align agency structure and processes with strategic objectives.
