About Cape Air

Cape Air is a regional airline dedicated to connecting communities across the Northeast and Caribbean. We pride ourselves on a culture of safety, reliability, and community service. Our mission is to provide safe, efficient, and friendly air transportation while fostering a positive reporting culture where every employee feels empowered to speak up about safety concerns.

About the Role

As the Director of Safety, you will lead the day-to-day coordination and continuous improvement of Cape Air's comprehensive safety programs. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between operational realities and strategic safety goals. You will work across the company to monitor safety performance, identify emerging concerns, and support the implementation of initiatives that drive our safety culture forward.

In this position, you will serve as a key advisor to the Vice President of Safety, bringing significant issues to light and helping to shape the overall direction of the Safety Department. Your day will involve managing the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP), Internal Evaluation Program (IEP), and Fatigue Risk Management Plan (FRMP), while ensuring that safety training materials are effective and up-to-date. You will chair the monthly Safety Committee, reviewing performance trends with department leaders and driving the timely completion of corrective actions. Whether coordinating internal investigations, evaluating the Emergency Response Plan, or traveling to Cape Air cities to support operational objectives, your focus remains on maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety.

Hiring Process

Candidates selected for this role will engage in a multi-stage interview process designed to assess both technical expertise and cultural fit. The process typically includes:

  1. A preliminary screening call with Human Resources.
  2. A technical deep-dive with the Safety Department leadership.
  3. A final interview with the Vice President of Safety and senior operational leaders.

Equal Opportunity Employer

Cape Air is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We consider qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
