The Claims Recovery practice sits within the Forensics – Risk division, specializing in quantifying, compiling, and preparing property damage, extra expense, and business interruption insurance claims. Our team provides a full spectrum of services ranging from property damage assessments and forensic accounting to litigation support and expert testimony. We serve a diverse range of clients, helping them navigate complex losses caused by wind, water, fire, earth, and human-induced events, including large-scale catastrophes like hurricanes and floods.
As the Director, Claims Recovery (Building), you will be the primary architect of client relationships and the guardian of project quality. This role exists to bridge the gap between technical forensic analysis and strategic client service. You will oversee the engagement team responsible for gathering and analyzing financial data, ensuring that every deliverable meets the highest standards of accuracy and clarity.
Your day will involve a dynamic mix of high-level strategy and hands-on technical work. You will interact directly with insurance adjusters, risk managers, lawyers, and third-party experts to discuss findings and resolve complex issues. While you will provide technical direction to consultants and ownership, a significant portion of your time will be dedicated to mentoring less experienced staff, fostering their growth through coaching and challenging assignments. You will also drive business development, building rapport with existing clients and generating new work to expand the firm's footprint in the marketplace.
At BDO, your work is impactful. We are more than just an accounting firm; we are an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) company, meaning you share financially in the firm's growth and success. Our culture is centered on making meaningful connections, approaching interactions with curiosity, and being true to yourself. We are committed to delivering exceptional experiences to middle-market leaders, helping them transform "business as usual" into "better than usual." By joining us, you become part of a global organization that values individuality, resilience, and sustainability, offering a unique opportunity to enhance your financial well-being while making a positive difference in the world.
Candidates selected for an interview will engage in a multi-stage process designed to assess both technical expertise and cultural fit. This typically includes an initial screening to discuss background and experience, followed by a deeper technical discussion regarding claims recovery and building estimation. The final stage involves meeting with the team to evaluate collaboration styles and alignment with our values.
BDO is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability/vets. We are committed to welcoming diverse perspectives and empowering team members to explore their full potential. We celebrate ingenuity and innovation, understanding that our talented team brings varying skills and experiences to help clients navigate complex challenges.
